Faith Christian Eagles Track & Field
Published in the Denver Post on 3.25.17: "Faith Christian senior Sarah Yocum, the defending Class 3A champion in the 100 and 300 hurdles, broke a school record in her first varsity race.
As a freshman Sarah Yocum went out for her first varsity track meet and, in a span of about 15 seconds, found her calling. “I really had no idea I was going to excel at hurdling until my freshman year,” Yocum said, “and I went into my first meet not having any idea how I’d compare with the competition. In my first event I won the 100 meter hurdles and my coach came up and hugged me. He said, ‘You just broke the school record!’ And then another girl came and hugged me and said, ‘You qualified for state!’ It was pretty much then that I realized maybe hurdles are something I want to stick with.”
Fast forward three years and the Faith Christian Academy senior is now a five-time Class 3A state champion across two events, the 100 hurdles (2014, 2015, 2016) and 300 hurdles (2014, 2016)." CLICK HERE to read the rest of the Denver Post article!
