Staff Spotlight - Jenna Lorick

teeacher jennalorickI have heard it said that it is a beautiful thing when a career and a passion come together.  That is exactly how I feel about teaching!  I knew I wanted to be a teacher before I even finished high school.  I was blessed to attend East Texas Baptist University where I met my wonderful husband, Nathan.  Together we have served in ministry for over 15 years and have four awesome kids, Kaden (13), Karter (9), Kolson (8), and Kenzi (5). We affectionately refer to them as the “K-crew”.

FCHS Offering Dual Credit Tour in Paris, France

parisfranceThis coming summer, for the first time, FCHS is offering a dual-credit tour. We are pairing with Joshua Expeditions and will be taking a 7-Day trip to Paris and environs. This experience includes three credit hours that the student will receive from Southern Theological Seminary upon completion of a ten week online course prior to the trip. The course will be an Intro to Philosophy course, and our online instructor will be joining us on the trip to continue to educate us as we travel. We will also have a professional guide from Joshua Expeditions to make sure our trip runs smoothly.

All current FCHS students and parents (regardless if they are taking French or a foreign language) are welcome to apply. The trip will be near the last week of July 2018. If we do not get enough people signed up by the Dec. 15th deadline, we will then plan on going in July 2019 instead. If you are interested, or for more information, please contact April Everitt at april.everitt@fca-schools.org.

God’s favor was clearly evident, the day was beautiful, the competition fierce AND the financial blessings were plentiful! THANK YOU for playing, for praying and for partnering in this financial effort to supplement the expense for Christian Education. Passionate About Beetles

beetleFCHS sophomore, Quincy Hansen, won the 2016 Coleopterists Society Award, junior category. The society launched the awards program in 1989 “to recognize young people (grades 7-12) studying beetles.” “I guess you could say the interest began almost at birth,” Quincy said. “My excitement for insects really took off when we learned about them in the 2nd grade. That's the year I figured out the one could make a living studying insects as an entomologist.”

Fall Sports Wrap Up 2017

athleticsMen’s Football had a nearly flawless season and were able to advance deeper into the playoffs than they had for several seasons.  Head Coach Ralph Nance lead a balanced team into the 2017 season and saw a defensive side emerge as one of the top defensive units in all 2A Football.  The team only suffered one loss during the regular season and were able to have a perfect conference record for the 2nd year in a row.  The Flatiron League Champs earned a home game in the first round of the State Playoffs against Bishop Machebeuf.

Our Students Giving Gifts to Children Worldwide!

occ squareOn November 6, during a combined K-8 chapel, students brought in 710 shoeboxes for Operation Christmas Child!  In the past, the middle school students each brought in several of one item, then during their Bible classes, the students each had the opportunity to pack a box. At the elementary campus, students were to pack their boxes at home and bring them in. We collected usually about 600 boxes combined between the two campuses.

Wisconsin to Hong Kong to Arvada

thompsonfamily smallsquareGreetings!  My name is Bryan Thompson and I am serving in my first year as the K-8 Principal at Faith Christian Academy.  I’m currently in my 21st year of Christian education, and my 11th year as a Christian school administrator. After graduating from the University of Wisconsin at LaCrosse, I spent two years as a missionary teacher in Eastern Europe.  After returning to the U.S., I spent a year of working as a full-time program director at a Bible Camp. I soon realized that I greatly missed being a classroom teacher (and working internationally), so I accepted a teaching position at a Christian international school in Hong Kong.  During my 18 years there, I taught 5th through 8th grades, completed my MA in Education Administration and Supervision, and then served as the middle MS Principal at that same school.
