Greetings! My name is Bryan Thompson and I am serving in my first year as the K-8 Principal at Faith Christian Academy. I’m currently in my 21st year of Christian education, and my 11th year as a Christian school administrator. After graduating from the University of Wisconsin at LaCrosse, I spent two years as a missionary teacher in Eastern Europe. After returning to the U.S., I spent a year of working as a full-time program director at a Bible Camp. I soon realized that I greatly missed being a classroom teacher (and working internationally), so I accepted a teaching position at a Christian international school in Hong Kong. During my 18 years there, I taught 5th through 8th grades, completed my MA in Education Administration and Supervision, and then served as the middle MS Principal at that same school.
My road to Faith started four years ago when I was visiting Colorado for the first time. I was attending a friend’s wedding reception which was held in Faith’s Atrium, and I immediately was impressed with the school’s facilities, mission statement, and school programs. Last year while living in Hong Kong, the Lord pressed on my heart that my time in Hong Kong was coming to a close. Not knowing what He had in store next, my family and I made the decision to step out in faith. And to Faith, He led us.
My wife, Emily, our children Jack (9), Max (7), Rose (4), and I moved to Arvada in July to start our new adventure. Since that day, people have been so generous by making us feel most welcome at home, both being part of the Faith community and living in Arvada. Like any parent, I was concerned about the transition and how my children would adjust to school in this ‘new’ country. I have been blessed that both boys have commented how much they enjoy attending Faith Christian Academy and how awesome their teachers are!
Although there have been a number of structural changes at the school starting this year, what has remained is our high standard to quality Christian education. I am so blessed to be partnering with such a great team of teachers, students, and parents! Some of the areas that I am excited to focus on include the continuation of Biblical integration, curriculum and assessment development, servant learning opportunities for our students, working through developmental transitions as students move through the grades, and partnering with ecUnite, our amazing parent volunteer group.
It has been an amazing experience being part of the team at Faith. There are so many wonderful programs that are happening, and the Lord is moving in phenomenal ways. I am blessed to be part of this ministry!
