I have heard it said that it is a beautiful thing when a career and a passion come together. That is exactly how I feel about teaching! I knew I wanted to be a teacher before I even finished high school. I was blessed to attend East Texas Baptist University where I met my wonderful husband, Nathan. Together we have served in ministry for over 15 years and have four awesome kids, Kaden (13), Karter (9), Kolson (8), and Kenzi (5). We affectionately refer to them as the “K-crew”.
Most of our married life has been spent in Texas where Nathan was a student pastor, a senior pastor, and finally, most recently, he served as the Director of Evangelism of our state convention. During that time, I had the honor of teaching 1st grade, 5th grade, and 2nd grade in between having children and adopting!
In early 2017, we began to feel the Lord stirring in our hearts. We felt like He might be preparing us for change. It was during this time that I felt the Lord calling me to resign from my 2nd grade teaching position. I was not sure what God was up to and I honestly didn’t want to listen… but I obeyed and resigned not knowing what the future held. With all this happening, it was not a shock when my husband was asked about a position in Denver this May. God began working in ways that only He can! Through a series of just amazing “God moments” our family was led to Faith Christian Academy. I am honored to have the opportunity to teach 3rd grade here and so look forward to watching my students grow not only academically but also spiritually!
I am a teacher that loves to have fun! Often you will find me singing, talking in silly voices, or sitting on the floor with my students. I believe that learning should be fun, engaging, and challenging. I love watching students get excited about learning!
