Our Students Giving Gifts to Children Worldwide!

occ squareOn November 6, during a combined K-8 chapel, students brought in 710 shoeboxes for Operation Christmas Child!  In the past, the middle school students each brought in several of one item, then during their Bible classes, the students each had the opportunity to pack a box. At the elementary campus, students were to pack their boxes at home and bring them in. We collected usually about 600 boxes combined between the two campuses.

Wisconsin to Hong Kong to Arvada

thompsonfamily smallsquareGreetings!  My name is Bryan Thompson and I am serving in my first year as the K-8 Principal at Faith Christian Academy.  I’m currently in my 21st year of Christian education, and my 11th year as a Christian school administrator. After graduating from the University of Wisconsin at LaCrosse, I spent two years as a missionary teacher in Eastern Europe.  After returning to the U.S., I spent a year of working as a full-time program director at a Bible Camp. I soon realized that I greatly missed being a classroom teacher (and working internationally), so I accepted a teaching position at a Christian international school in Hong Kong.  During my 18 years there, I taught 5th through 8th grades, completed my MA in Education Administration and Supervision, and then served as the middle MS Principal at that same school.

In April, the three campuses joined together for another incredible Spring Celebration. We were treated to a program featuring America’s Got Talent Crevier Family Spin-Tacular Basketball Show.  To the audience’s amusement, our own principal, Michael Cook, was called up to the stage to show off his basketball skills.

On Wednesday, February 1, members of Mrs. Hicks’ first period Advanced Language Arts class (the homeroom class that collected the most cans per student) took the cans collected during the Canned Food Drive to the Arvada Food Bank (located at 8555 W 57th Avenue in Arvada). Staff Spotlight - Amy Blahnik

staff amy blahnikGetting to Faith Christian was a faith adventure in and of itself. My family was going through a difficult time and needed to move to be safe spiritually, physically, and emotionally.  I enrolled my kids in FCMS and FCHS four years ago.  I did not have a job or a place to live.  By faith, God provided contacts and people to live with.  We spent a lot of time in the car in the beginning.

Staff Spotlight - Tamara McCann

staff tamara mccannI am a native of Colorado. I was born and lived in Leadville until my family moved to Arvada when I was in 3rd grade. I was so excited to hear that my 4th grade year I would be attending Faith Christian Academy, just like my cousins who had been attending since it was the Jesus Center. With the influences of my friends and wonderful teachers, my relationship with Christ grew over the years giving me a great foundation of my faith when I graduated from FCHS.

Staff Spotlight - Jeri Scheufele

staff jeri scheufeleMy family and I have been members of the FCA family since 2005. All three of my kids have graduated from Faith.  The foundation that attending FCA laid for them has had a huge impact on their lives today.  For that I am so blessed and thankful.  Today, each of my children has a personal relationship with Jesus and I am blessed to see the fruit of it daily.  This is the reason we sacrificed and invested in Christian education.

Staff Spotlight - Christy Crary

staff christy craryI've been teaching at Faith for 10 years, primarily 8th grade math and advanced Saxon math.  I started teaching in 2001 when I lived in California.  I love teaching math because I remember how hard it was to learn, and I try to teach it to help students not be overwhelmed by it as I was. My husband and I have twin 12 year old boys, one has special needs - he has autism and doesn't talk.  His twin brother is in 7th grade at FCMS.

Fall Sports Wrap Up - FCHS and FCMS

xc coleFCHS: Cross Country had a tremendous year with the men's team accomplishing a Faith first.  The men's team was the first team in school history to win the regional meet, with 9th grader, Cole Sprout, finishing first overall.  Although the team did not reach the podium at the state level they are loaded with underclassmen and look poised for future greatness.  Additionally, Cole Sprout finished second individually at the state championship meet, losing to a senior runner.  The women's had a solid season and, again, are a very young team with a bright future ahead of them, Shannon King qualified for the state meet as a freshman.
