Staff Spotlight - Jenna Lorick

teeacher jennalorickI have heard it said that it is a beautiful thing when a career and a passion come together.  That is exactly how I feel about teaching!  I knew I wanted to be a teacher before I even finished high school.  I was blessed to attend East Texas Baptist University where I met my wonderful husband, Nathan.  Together we have served in ministry for over 15 years and have four awesome kids, Kaden (13), Karter (9), Kolson (8), and Kenzi (5). We affectionately refer to them as the “K-crew”.

Our Students Giving Gifts to Children Worldwide!

occ squareOn November 6, during a combined K-8 chapel, students brought in 710 shoeboxes for Operation Christmas Child!  In the past, the middle school students each brought in several of one item, then during their Bible classes, the students each had the opportunity to pack a box. At the elementary campus, students were to pack their boxes at home and bring them in. We collected usually about 600 boxes combined between the two campuses.

Wisconsin to Hong Kong to Arvada

thompsonfamily smallsquareGreetings!  My name is Bryan Thompson and I am serving in my first year as the K-8 Principal at Faith Christian Academy.  I’m currently in my 21st year of Christian education, and my 11th year as a Christian school administrator. After graduating from the University of Wisconsin at LaCrosse, I spent two years as a missionary teacher in Eastern Europe.  After returning to the U.S., I spent a year of working as a full-time program director at a Bible Camp. I soon realized that I greatly missed being a classroom teacher (and working internationally), so I accepted a teaching position at a Christian international school in Hong Kong.  During my 18 years there, I taught 5th through 8th grades, completed my MA in Education Administration and Supervision, and then served as the middle MS Principal at that same school.

FCES Pillow Project Outreach by Tammy Pritchard

2017espillowsOne of the highlights of my time working in the elementary school the last two years was creating and facilitating A.C.T.S. (Acquiring Character Through Service) Service Projects each month of the school year.  A student from each class is nominated for exhibiting the character trait of the month, they are recognized in Chapel and then all of them come together for the service project during the school day.

Fun Stuff on the Campuses!

2017springcelebration12There were so fun many activities that wrapped up our 2016-2017 school year!  The “practically perfect” Mary Poppins musical delighted audiences with three sold-out shows. In April, the three campuses joined together for another incredible Spring Celebration. We were treated to a program featuring America’s Got Talent Crevier Family Spin-Tacular Basketball Show.  To the audience’s amusement, our own principal, Michael Cook, was called up to the stage to show off his basketball skills.

READ-A-THON – by FCES teacher, Jessica Lewis

0127171034a resizedIn this day in age, building an excitement for reading among students can be a daunting task. The wonder that fills the pages of so many books and the simple joy of reading is a mystery for far too many children. For educators, developing a classroom environment where reading is a welcomed challenge, prioritized, and celebrated is hugely important! As a new teacher to Faith, getting to participate in this year’s Read-a-thon was such a joy. I had the privilege of observing for the first time the excitement that this fundraiser builds within the Faith Christian Elementary community.

Staff Spotlight - Alicia Cespedes

staff alicia cespedesOf all the things in the world, I’ve always wanted to be a teacher for as long as I remember. I’ve been teaching 25 years and none of my teaching experiences have been as fulfilling and spiritually edifying until I came to Faith Christian Academy.  I graduated from Metro State College and achieved a Bachelor in Elementary Education with a minor in Bi-lingual Bi-cultural.  I went on to get my masters at Regis University in Reading and Curriculum.  By the grace of God and the gentle care of His provision He allowed me to accomplish my childhood dreams of becoming a teacher.

Staff Spotlight - Julie Foster

staff julie fosterI was born and raised in Minnesota. I had two brothers, one still lives in St. Paul, the other died in a helicopter crash in the Sea of Japan when I was a few days overdue with the birth of my first child. It was a very difficult time, but the outpouring of love really spoke to my parents who hadn’t yet given their lives to Jesus. I came to know the Lord while in high school, but really began serving Him after college.

ES/MS Staff Spotlight - Stormy Anderson

StormyAndersonTwenty-six years ago, God granted one of the desires of my heart and let me begin my teaching career at Faith Christian Academy. Teaching K-12 Art, Yearbook, and Drama was a big bite to chew on as a first year teacher, but I learned quickly that God is good, and he will never call you to something without equipping you to do the job.
