Our Students Giving Gifts to Children Worldwide!

occ squareOn November 6, during a combined K-8 chapel, students brought in 710 shoeboxes for Operation Christmas Child!  In the past, the middle school students each brought in several of one item, then during their Bible classes, the students each had the opportunity to pack a box. At the elementary campus, students were to pack their boxes at home and bring them in. We collected usually about 600 boxes combined between the two campuses.

FCES Pillow Project Outreach by Tammy Pritchard

2017espillowsOne of the highlights of my time working in the elementary school the last two years was creating and facilitating A.C.T.S. (Acquiring Character Through Service) Service Projects each month of the school year.  A student from each class is nominated for exhibiting the character trait of the month, they are recognized in Chapel and then all of them come together for the service project during the school day.

What is your Worldview? By FCHS teacher, Sharon Joplin

missions iconMany things come to mind when hearing the term "worldview."  At Faith Christian High School students have many opportunities to expand their worldview and to develop a Christian worldview.  Whether it be through Bible classes, such as Worldview and World Religions; befriending an international student; service projects; mission trips; athletics; or theater - our students are constantly challenged to view the world as greater than their immediate local.

It was a successful Canned Food Drive that will bless many local families. Thank you so much, students and parents, for your support of this project!  Also, a special thank you to those parents who came to check, count, move, and sort cans for us and to Rosi Rogers for heading up all the volunteer efforts.

On Wednesday, February 1, members of Mrs. Hicks’ first period Advanced Language Arts class (the homeroom class that collected the most cans per student) took the cans collected during the Canned Food Drive to the Arvada Food Bank (located at 8555 W 57th Avenue in Arvada). Congratulations to Mrs. Hick's first period Language Arts class!

Sharing our Faith – by Greg Stier, Dare 2 Share

D2S StierAs a former Christian school student I know that it can be easy to be so saturated with the message of the Bible that it becomes, well, let’s be honest, kind of old news. And when the Gospel goes from being “good news” to “old news” that’s bad news. That’s one of the reasons my son Jeremy and I decided to take a group of Faith Christian High Schoolers out to share the Gospel once a month. Because when you share the Gospel with people who have never heard it you realize how good the good news is!

outreachday2016.1Each year on the Friday morning of homecoming week, the entire high school takes part in various outreach/service projects throughout our community.  The coordination of 450 students, teachers, and parent volunteers makes this annual event one of our more massive undertakings.  This year was no different as we had students at 28 different sites located in Arvada, the surrounding suburbs, downtown Denver, and as far as Aurora and Brighton.  Our volunteers were at a variety of locations including churches, inner-city ministries, farms, ministries to single moms, retirement communities, and elementary schools.

Operation Christmas Child - Elem and Middle Schools

ms occ boxpile1We have truly seen the hand of God moving through our Operation Christmas Child outreach this year. After students initially brought their assigned items to their homeroom, many of their teachers were storing the items in the girl's locker room. After the school flood occurred on November 5, our staff checked on the status of the Operation Christmas Child items in the locker room. Wading through the water in the dark, they were able to ascertain if the items had been damaged. While the girls’ locker room had to be re-done, not one of our items was lost!

Students Raise 7.25 Miles of Pennies

arvada food bank

October was Missions Month in the elementary school. Classes competed in collecting pennies, silver coins, dollars and even $100 bills. This year we collected over $6100.00, or about 7.25 miles of pennies!!! The Arvada Community Food Bank was chosen to be the recipient of our collections. They were very appreciative and excited to receive the donation!  Not only did our elementary students enjoy the competition between classes, but missions month is helping them learn about giving back to the community and those who are less fortunate.
