"Singin' in the Rain is a musical with a book by Betty Comden and Adolph Green, lyrics byArthus Freed, and music byNacio Herb Brown. Adapted from the 1952 movie of the same name, the plot closely adheres to the original. Set in Hollywood in the waning days of the silent screen era, it focuses on romantic lead Don Lockwood, his sidekick Cosmo Brown, aspiring actress Kathy Selden, and Lockwood's leading lady Lina Lamont, whose less-than-dulcet vocal tones make her an unlikely candidate for stardom in talking pictures."

March 2017: "MARY POPPINS"

The annual musical is always a highlight of Faith’s spring semester. This year’s Mary Poppins really stood out as a fun production, with great singing and wonderful music. Leah Harmon in her new role as director, and music director, Bill Welsh, produced an entertaining evening for sold-out audiences. Jared Long, as Bert, guided the viewers through the story of nanny Mary Poppins helping the troubled Banks family to a happy ending. The show had something to offer everyone, with its variety of songs and dance. It included big numbers that involved the entire cast, such as “Anything Can Happen,” but it also had thoughtful solos, such as “Being Mrs. Banks.” The actors agreed that “Supercalifragilisticexpialidocious” was the hardest song to learn, but the tap dancing in “Step in Time” was certainly a challenge as well. The actors put in countless hours working hard to practice and master the difficult steps and notes that the musical required, even practicing during access periods. Avery Leopold (Mrs. Banks) and McKenna Gubanich (Mary Poppins) did a phenomenal job singing their parts, despite the high notes when both of them usually sing more in the alto range. Mary Poppins had a playful feel and some fun special effects. Great job, cast and crew!  (by Marsella Evans, FCHS Student)
